Aesthetician performing a precise dermaplaning treatment on a relaxed guest
Peculiar, Missouri

Softer skin and flawless makeup, in one quick visit

A sterile blade gently lifts away dull dead skin and the fine peach fuzz on your face, leaving skin that feels smooth and takes makeup beautifully.

The Treatment

Manual exfoliation, done with precision

No chemicals, no downtime, and skin you can feel the difference on before you leave.

Dermaplaning is exfoliation done by hand. Your aesthetician holds the skin taut and moves a sterile surgical blade across it at a shallow angle, lifting off the layer of dead cells that has built up along with the fine vellus hair, the peach fuzz, that helps trap them there.

Nothing is injected, nothing chemical is applied, and there is nothing to recover from. You walk out with skin that feels noticeably smoother to the touch and looks brighter, because light reflects evenly off a clean surface instead of scattering across buildup.

Why Guests Love It

The reason your makeup sits differently

Foundation clings to peach fuzz and catches on flaky patches. Take both away and makeup goes on flat and stays put, which is why dermaplaning is such a common request before a wedding, a photo session, or any event where the pictures will outlive the day.

It also opens the door for everything else in your routine. Serums and moisturizers reach live skin instead of soaking into a layer of dead cells, so the products you already own start doing more of what you bought them for.

How It Works

Quick, comfortable, and completely calm

After a full cleanse, your aesthetician holds a section of skin taut and works the blade across it in short, light strokes. It is not painful. Most guests say it feels like a soft scraping sensation, closer to ticklish than anything else.

We finish with a hydrating serum and sunscreen, since freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive to sun for a few days. Many guests book dermaplaning alongside a facial so the two work together in a single visit.

In the Room

  • Full cleanse first
  • Blade work in short strokes
  • Hydrating serum and SPF

After Your Visit

  • Wear sunscreen daily
  • Skip strong acids for two days
  • Return every three to four weeks
Care That Fits You

Better together with your other favorites

Dermaplaning pairs naturally with a medical facial or an AquaFacial, since clearing the surface first lets everything that follows sink in. If tone is your bigger concern, ask us about IPL, or get in touch and we will help you choose.

FAQ

Dermaplaning questions, answered

Will the hair grow back thicker or darker?

No. This is the most common worry about dermaplaning and it is a myth. The blade removes fine vellus hair, the soft peach fuzz on your face, which is structurally different from coarse terminal hair. Cutting it does not change the follicle, so it grows back at the same fine texture and the same color it was before, on its normal cycle.

Does dermaplaning hurt?

It should not. The blade is held at a shallow angle against skin that is being kept taut, so it glides rather than digs. Most guests describe a light scraping sensation that is closer to ticklish than uncomfortable, and there is no numbing needed.

How often should I get dermaplaning?

Every three to four weeks suits most guests, which lines up with how long your skin takes to turn over and build a new layer of dead cells. Going more often than that does not give the skin time to renew and can leave it feeling sensitized.

How is it different from a chemical peel?

Dermaplaning removes dead skin physically with a blade, and a peel does it chemically with acids. Dermaplaning also takes off the fine facial hair, which a peel does not. The practical difference for you is downtime: a peel usually means visible flaking for several days, while dermaplaning has none at all.

Is there any downtime?

None. You can go straight back to your day and wear makeup the same afternoon if you want to. Freshly exfoliated skin is more sun sensitive for a few days, so daily sunscreen matters, and we would skip strong acids or retinoids for about two days afterward.

Who is not a good candidate?

Dermaplaning is not the right choice if you have active inflamed or cystic acne, since drawing a blade across broken or inflamed skin can spread bacteria and irritate things further. Active cold sores, sunburn, or a flaring rosacea patch are also reasons to wait. We look at your skin before we start, and if it is not the right day for it we will say so and reschedule you.

Can I combine it with a facial?

Yes, and many guests do. Dermaplaning clears the surface so the products in a facial reach skin that can actually absorb them, which makes the pair more effective than either one on its own. Just let us know when you book so we can allow the time.
